(pictures to come)
Nixon has a Wild Hog Cookoff each year and in addition to the cookoff, they have games for the kiddos. We signed Mason up for the Goat Slapping and Stick Horse races. When they called his name for the goat slapping, he and I entered the arena and went to the starting line, looked down a few yards at the little baby goat that was staked and just waiting. We held hands and quickly walked to the goat where I had to take Mason's hand and show him how to 'slap' the goat, then I let go of his hand and he ran after me back to the starting line. Needless to say, he didn't get the fastest time, but his is all fun for the kids so he did get his first ribbon as a participant. When we went back in the arena with the other 2-4 year olds to take their picture for the paper, he saw the goat still staked and THEN he wanted to go get it.
He wasn't too impressed with the stick horses. One of our cousins was in charge and was even trying to coax Mason and ride a stick horse with him, but he just threw the stick horse on the ground. Not too bad for his first experience at the Wild Hog Cookoff.
